How I work

My work is guided by an interest in helping people find ways to respond to life’s challenges with greater understanding and choice.

I bring warmth, humour, and compassion to the counselling relationship. We can take time to understand what is happening in your life and what matters to you.

My work includes mindfulness-based psychotherapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). We can discuss these approaches, your concerns, and what you hope to gain from counselling.

Mindfulness in my life

A cancer diagnosis in 2003 changed the course of my life. After recovering physically from treatment, I struggled with anxiety and despair related to having experienced a life-threatening illness.

Meditation and other mindfulness practices helped me regain a sense of psychological steadiness. Since then, mindfulness has become part of my personal and professional life.

“There is something wonderfully bold and liberating about saying yes to the entirely imperfect and messy human experience.”

Prairie Centre for Mindfulness

I am the founder of the Prairie Centre for Mindfulness and have taught the eight-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction course. If you are interested in courses or other learning opportunities, please ask about current options.
